This spring, we got to hear from hundreds of Shorewood residents about your ideas for our community’s future.

The Designing Shorewood team has collected and analyzed these ideas and prepared two summaries, ready for your review!

The project team is using this community input to develop draft goals and objectives for the Comprehensive Plan.

The Village of Shorewood is collecting valuable input for the Comprehensive Plan Update. Please take a few minutes to complete the online Community Survey which asks about your overall experience in Shorewood, plus questions specifically about parks and recreation.

On April 20^th, 2022 Phase 1 of the Village of Shorewood Comprehensive Plan Update was officially wrapped with a presentation about the project to date made to the Village Board and Village Planning and Zoning Commission by the planning consultant. The presentation can be viewed here and covered:

• Village demographics and existing conditions, 
• a review of past plans for the Village, 
• summary of an in-depth market study conducted just before this plan started, and
• details of community input on a range of topics being considered in the plan. 

The Board and Commission had a good discussion about issues and opportunities facing the Village and how those can be addressed in the plan. The next phase of the planning process will compile what has been learned into a vision statement and goals for the Comprehensive Plan, which will be discussed and drafted with the project Steering Committee.

If you haven’t already, be sure to 1) subscribe to the project website to stay current on all upcoming news about the plan and 2) take the 20-question Community Survey which will be open through April. Community input is important through every stage of this process, so please keep sharing ideas!

It was fantastic to see nearly 200 participants at yesterday’s first Community Open House! Thanks to all who were able to join us and begin the planning and visioning process for Designing Shorewood.

The project team is compiling all materials and will be posting results from each activity for continued participation in a virtual open house format for those who could not attend.

Please join us on Thursday, March 31^st from 6:30 – 8:30 PM at Village Hall for the first community Open House as part of Designing Shorewood, the Village’s Comprehensive Plan. 

Since launching this project in December 2021, we’ve received hundreds of comments via the online ideas map and comment form, and we got to meet some of you in-person at the Holiday Market. This Open House will build on those ideas we’ve been hearing, and is a chance for the whole community to gather, participate in interactive stations, and discuss the future of Shorewood together. 

There will be light refreshments, a raffle, and a special station activity for kids. Bring your friends, family, and neighbors for this interactive evening that will set the course for the rest of the Comprehensive Plan. Hope to see you there!
