Thank you to all who attended the second Community Open House for Designing Shorewood! On October 19th, participants gathered to review and provide feedback on preliminary plan recommendations. Residents provided input in the following ways:
commenting on land use recommendations and opportunities for the five planning subareas
providing suggestions for amenities and improvements related to existing parks and trials
voting in a live polling exercise to prioritize proposed programs and policies
working in small groups to plan for the future of the western growth area.
Plan drafting is now underway, fueled and informed by the community input received thus far. On behalf of the planning team, we thank for your participation in this process! Stay tuned for updates on how you can review the draft plan and participate in the plan adoption process.
We will see you at Village Hall tonight for the second Designing Shorewood Open House! Stop by anytime between 7 and 9PM to review and provide input on initial ideas for development of the plan’s subareas and the future of the western growth area.
There will be multiple activities, plus a raffle that you can enter to win gift certificates to local businesses, a digital picture frame, and Apple Air Pods Pro!

A previous version of this post contained an incorrect link to the presentation. This has been corrected below.
On April 20th, 2022 Phase 1 of the Village of Shorewood Comprehensive Plan Update was officially wrapped with a presentation about the project to date made to the Village Board and Village Planning and Zoning Commission by the planning consultant. The presentation can be viewed here and covered:
Village demographics and existing conditions,
a review of past plans for the Village,
summary of an in-depth market study conducted just before this plan started, and
details of community input on a range of topics being considered in the plan.
The Board and Commission had a good discussion about issues and opportunities facing the Village and how those can be addressed in the plan. The next phase of the planning process will compile what has been learned into a vision statement and goals for the Comprehensive Plan, which will be discussed and drafted with the project Steering Committee.
Happy Wednesday, Shorewood! This is a friendly reminder to please take a spin through the Virtual Open House activities if you haven’t already. The webpage will be open through April 17th and we hope to get input from those who were unable to attend the in-person Open House!
We also encourage you to take the Community Survey. This will be live through the end of April and, together with feedback from the Open House, will help us develop draft goals and objectives for the Comprehensive Plan. Thank you for your time and thoughts!
Thank you again to those who came out on March 31st for our in-person Community Open House! To hear from even more of the community and get input from those who could not attend, a Virtual Open House with modified versions of the same activities is now live. Activities will remain open through April 17th. Note: For the best user experience, please participate in the Virtual Open House on a desktop device.
Did you already complete the Open House activities? Then please be sure to also take the Community Survey! It’s only 20 questions and asks about your overall experience in Shorewood, plus questions specifically about parks and recreation. The survey will remain open through the end of April.
